Indigenous involvement

Ri-con seeks to be a valued corporate citizen in every community in which it operates. The Company is proud of its long established track record of working with Aboriginal people and communities, often in some of the most remote and isolated places in Australia.

Existing community-based activities supported by Ri-con across Northern Australia include corporate sponsorship, voluntary assistance with building maintenance, and the creation of Aboriginal employment opportunities.

The company is expanding its efforts to make an enduring, equitable and sustainable contribution to those regional economies in which it operates by developing an Aboriginal Workforce Development Strategy. This work-site based Strategy enables Aboriginal workers to enter the building and construction workforce equipped with the knowledge, skills and understandings needed to gain and sustain employment and maintain social health and stability.

We focus on delivering the best possible set of economic, environment and social outcomes to the community we are involved in. The long-term aim is to develop a skilled Aboriginal workforce that continues to provide services to local communities long after the Company has completed its work in the specific community.
