Technical Expertise
Project Organisational
Structure
The Organisation Chart detailed below shows our
structure for a recent Project. The Company adapts
its organisational structure to suit the nature
of the Project, maintaining direct lines of communication
and therefore few levels of management.
The Directors ensure that staff appointed to
all management positions have been given the authority
to make the decisions necessary to achieve the
Project goals.
The company engages staff on the basis of their
experience on a range of Projects, their technical
expertise, and their ability to communicate successfully
with the Client, subcontract companies, and management
staff at all levels in the organisation.
Working Relationships
with Stakeholders
Ri-con Contractors maintains a Management System
that documents the responsibilities of all personnel
in the completion of Company projects. Brief details
of how the Company achieves a positive and productive
working relationship with the different stakeholders
are as follows:
Prior to starting a project the Directors, Project
Manager, and Site Manager review all project documentation
to ensure client specifications are fully understood
and subsequent work exactly meets client requirements.
The review process addresses all aspects of the
work from the initial documented requirements
through all aspects of equipment, process and
personnel necessary for achievement of those requirements.
Next, the Project Manager and Site Manager ensure
that the specific client requirements are clearly
described and communicated to all staff and contractors
at the work site. Through training and regular
communication they ensure that staff and contractors
working on the project understand client requirements
and provide the expected quality of work. Measurement
of client satisfaction is inherent in many of
the procedures and feedback is analysed and acted
upon.
Throughout the project, client satisfaction is
monitored through scheduled and informal meetings
and, in the unlikely event that they are necessary,
amendments are made to improve performance.
Formal monthly meetings between the Project Manager
and the Client will be established, as will formal
communications systems (as per Master Builders
Australia guidelines) including:
- Requests for Information
- Request for Time Extension
- Variation Requests
The Public
Managers understand there is a possibility that
construction work may have some minor impact on
local members of the community in the vicinity
of the work site. They are readily available and
willing to communicate with the community and
immediately respond to any concerns in this area.
They will also make material available which will
keep the community fully briefed on work progress
and will personally address issues with individuals
or community groups as they arise.
Staff and Contractors
Site managers are selected on the basis of their
ability to manage work projects and get the best
available performance out of site staff. To this
end the Project and Site Manager provide a safe
work environment that conforms to the requirements
of the Company’s Occupational Health and
Safety Management System. Consultation with staff
and contractors is conducted informally and through
formal Tool Box Talks and Daily Construction Reports.
These tools also provide a venue for information
and training in the various aspects of the project
and any amendments to the Management System or
work instructions.

In essence, to be competitive in the current market
Ri-con needs to stay a step ahead. In the remote
areas where we operate, all emphasis is on quality
workmanship and having trades people ready and
available. By looking after its people, and flying
them in and out of these remote areas, the Company
ensures it always has fresh and safe hands on
site. If required, we can provide any number of
carpenters to a project, a flexibility that is
not shared by our local competition in these remote
areas.
